Inspired by the archival 2000’s design and arriving as part of the brand’s evolving Gel-Kayano™ series, the Asics Gel-Kayano is a performative sneaker and is the first in the collection to be designed by someone other than the legendary Toshikazu Kayano. Styled with mixed material uppers formed from a blend of breathable mesh, premium leather and brushed suede, this low collar profile features original inspired tooling, a TRUSTTIC™ support system and collection exclusive Gel™ cushioning across the insole of its traction-orientated design. A solution-dyed sockliner is in keeping with the shoe’s early ‘00s design language, with the layered construction an honouring of its technical advancement and performative orientation. Classic tiger claw trims across the underlaid quarters reference the brand’s Onitsuka Tiger heritage, with the recessed 5 eyelet lacing system securing the tonal rounded laces across the ventilated and well padded tongue. A custom suede ‘Gel’ heel brace complements its construction, with the cushioned collaring signing off the silhouette with an additional layer of structural security to suit any given setting.
